I just upgraded my Windows PC at the office to run Windows 8 and the most obvious thing that’s missing is the Start Menu button in the Desktop screen/area/whatever the damned thing is called.

Now, call me old fashioned, but I liked the Start Menu. It was a central point from which you could control all things Windows, and now it’s gone the desktop experience feels a bit.. empty.

Never mind though, Open Source to the rescue! A quick search around Source Forge revealed this tool – a rather handy little Start Menu replacement that not only returns said menu to it’s rightful place but also offers a ton of customisation options.

I’m still a bit anti-Win 8, but not as much as I was 30 minutes ago…
